Since I started my vlog, I have been very disappointed in many bloggers and commentors whom I consider are complete ignorants and audists. They have criticized and attacked our own values, ASL and Deaf. They have also considered us as isolated and less human beings.
Well here it is! A Deaf boy is a student at the E.C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton Ontario Canada. The school has provided Deaf students Bi/Bi program. The boy is one of the 12 Ontario Junior Citizens of the Year by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association.
Now it has shown that many ignorants and audists have failed to recognize ASL as a language and Deaf as a human being. I feel sorry for them for believing in a very narrow and limited vision.

"Deaf"Culture? What about "ASL"?
Discussion about Deaf Culture and ASL Culture. Why do we call our culture, Deaf Culture? Why don't we call ASL culture or BSL culture or RSL culture instead of Deaf Culture? We educate the world there are many sign languages and at the same time we educate the world there is one Deaf Culture. Is that correct or not? Please be discreet in discussion that we all will appreciate very much. Please respect people's views. I am not linguistic and socialogy specialist. I would be thrilled to have them answered on that that I am sure will be well informed for all of us who desire to learn more about ourselves. Any irrelevant or negative/attack comment will be removed. Thank you
Thanks to Orange and Brown Coalition for referring me to two website addresses (below)

Don't molest, assault, oppress, kill, manipulate...ASL
Many years ago, I remember I had a paper that stated," Do not molest, assault, oppress, kill, manipulate, change, insult, spit on, look down, dumb down...................... ASL.
If you have a copy, please share it with us all.
I want to discuss about Signed English, Signed Essential English, Signed Exact English and other signed communication methods by comparing to Spoken ASL, Spoken Essential ASL, Spoken Exact ASL and other spoken communication methods.
Do you think that it is okay for people to speak ASL, exact ASL, and essential ASL? If no, why not?
If say NO to speak ASL but say YES to sign English, then it will be a HUGE problem. It is about attitude.
We are fighting against that to protect our language, ASL. It is the natural reaction for human beings. We are human beings nothing more nothing less! Anglophones would react if their English language were in danger.
If you have any comment, Please do it!

Adoption: Deaf Dog
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10268943
The website above did not mention about her as a deaf dog. I saw her and the staff said she forgot to put "deaf" on the website.
Any person, who is 60 years old or older, is eligable for adoption fee being waived. If 59 years old or younger, will have to pay 245 dollars (Canadian dollars) for adoption fee.
The deaf dog (Marissa) prefers to live in quiet home without cat, dog and young kid. She is very patient with other wild dogs who jumped on her and she just walked away... I feel so bad for her.
I hope one of you who love her and welcome her to a new home. She deserves it. I would take her but we have other pets at home.
Please contact 519 966 5751 (call via MRS or VRS) and fax number is 519 966 1848. She is at Humane Society in WIndsor, Ontario Canada (Just across the river south from Detroit, Michigan, USA.
To my understanding, that she can live either in the USA or Canada. Take care

TOUGH BATTLE: ASL and English
For the past few days, I had observed bloggers/vloggers' discussion about accessibility for Deafblind and people with Usher’s syndrome.
Carl Schroeder brought up his concerns about ASL video clips with subtitles. He argues that ASL and English are not compatible due to their differences. They are like orange and apple. Other people have supported his argument and at the same time they would like to have Deafblind and people with Usher’s syndrome involved in Deafread.
Others have argued that Deafblind and people with Usher’s syndrome have every right to read subtitles and transcripts. Some of them have criticized Deaf people for oppressing Deafblind and people with Usher’s syndrome.
One person has a recommendation that ASL video clip and transcript can be used rather than ASL video clip with subtitles. The main reason is that Deafblind (totally blind or impossible to read or see) could not read subtitles that the Braille system could not translate. I think transcript is the best solution for everyone and the Braille system can translate it and even voice system can do that too. ASLan just discovered video format that can enlarge picture of video for people with Usher's syndrome. It is one of solutions. I am gonna ask Kevin (ASLan) to get one.
There are two separate languages (ASL video clip and transcript in English) that can be provided for everyone. But I must emphasize taht both of them are not the same in concept. For example this transcript I wrote is not exact like my video clip article but similar idea. I want to emphasize taht ASL is my primary language and English is my secondary language.
Some may not write transcript at all. Some may write summary transcript and others may write full transcript. I made subtitle on my video clip (Put ASL Above AGBAD – Come On). It took me hours to finish it. I was informed it was good. Then I decided to try other video clips and know what, it was impossible for me to make subtitles on them because of language complication. Too much for me to work on that for many hours but at the same time I don’t want to give up for Deafblind and people with usher’s syndrome.
I just discovered that translating ASL into English is far too tough if not impossible. It takes a huge amount of time to work on it. I think Carl was trying to point it out. It is so much easier for people to translate spoken English into written English. “From spoken word to written word”
I do not agree with Mike McConnell’s comments that stated Deaf oppress Deaf. I want to challenge him that he stated that he preferred to speak rather than sign. I understand that is his choice. But I want to ask him if he is aware that he was actually oppressing Deaf by denying them ASL. In my view, he does not provide accessibility for some Deaf people even though Mike claims he knows ASL. Why not use ASL? I find that ironic.
I think it is unfair to criticize Deaf people for not providing accessibility for others. Deaf people are working very hard to do their best. We all want to have Deafblind and people with Usher’s syndrome involved somehow.
We want to understand their needs and we want to find a solution for everyone. I know not all vloggers can do that for various reasons such as language challenges. We need to work together to find a creative solution. If we continue to criticize among us, it will hurt us all. We all don’t deserve that.
Please remember I do not represent Deafblind and people with Usher's syndrome. I may be wrong and I am more than happy to be corrected.
We can work together as a team and be creative!

Enough of CI Discussion! Where is ASL?
I have noticed that there is a huge increase of C.I. discussions in Deafread! At first, I was willing to read articles of C.I. discussions but now, I am not very comfortable with that. I am concerned that many of us have been distracted from our most precious way of life - ASL and Deaf Culture. It appears that C.I. corporates are getting free advertisements in Deafread! No matter how negative or positive C.I.s are. It is just more C.I. awareness. We are lured into that!
Our job is to promote ASL/Sign Languages and Cultures rather than to criticize people who do not support ASL and cultures.
We need to focus on and promote our beloved ASL or other Sign Languages in our own websites and others websites as well as health care system, parents groups, clinics, doctors office, infant programs and education system.
Why don't we do that now?
